EUROCONTROL and Authorities of other Continents

Benefits:

• FRIEND fulfills most requirements of the SWIM-SUIT project. The feasibility of the FRIEND concept has already been proved with a FRIEND prototype. FRIEND will make a good alternative to the SWIM-SUIT project or could be part of the SWIM-SUIT project.
• FRIEND is a vendor-neutral, open source project. The Virtual Information Pool – the key element for realizing Single European Sky (SES) – would then be independent of proprietary products (no risk of vendor lock-in). Long-range independence and sustainability can be ensured.
• Using FRIEND as open source product in Single European Sky (SES), SES will be able to share information with the Non-European aviation stakeholders in a more open and simple way.
